Protest in defense of the Indians brings 5,000 crosses for Congress

Protest Organizer says that the cross represents the death of indigenous peoples. Demonstration draws attention to dispute of land in Mato Grosso do Sul.

Five thousand crosses were embedded in the lawn of the ministries Esplanade, in front of the National Congress, on Friday (19), in an act in defense of indigenous peoples. The Board of Psychology, one of the organizers of the protest, said that the symbols represent the death of indigenous people. The exhibition seeks to call attention to the land dispute between indigenous farmers in the State of Mato Grosso do Sul.

The Vice-President of the Federal Council of psychology, Clara Goldman, said the protest would show the situation of Indian village in Brazil.


“Act emerges as a placement to give voice to the injustices that indigenous peoples suffer”.
