Concrete proposal from the Indian Mainland for Residence Blog drafting the “Law for mining in TIs”

We support the position of Chiefs David Kopinawa (people originally Yanomami) and we present the case of mining in Tekoha Piaçaguera (People originating in Tupi-guarani). Mining practice in TIs introduces irreversible damage to the Holy lands and traditional way of life changes dramatically-deaths in armed clashes, with the introduction of diseases, prostitution, changes in eating habits resulting in illness and death, among others; We believe that the current political scenario of complete dismantling of environmental and indigenous law prevents the passage of mining in TIs, but firstly the repeal of Decree genocidal 7056/09 and from changes in the forest code, as well as the invalidity of the PEC and 215 303 Concierge.

Call the attention of National and international non-indigenous society and be advised that in approving the Mining Law on Indigenous Land (TIs)-in this scenario of complete dismantling of environmental and indigenous rights in Brazil–there will be irreparable loss of sums of biomes and ecosystems that are preserved in the TIs as well as genocidal death of thousands of indigenous people throughout the Brazilian territory, which is already bathed in blood of indigenous peoples not only in the invasion and colonization, but in recent period in the history of Brazil: from 1946 to 1988, during the Brazilian military Civil Dictatorship, even the dictatorship’s archives were opened and the single thread hit that until today has not any reparation for damage sustained in their communities are the original peoples.

Impossible to dissociate the PAC I and PAC II of greed to destroy the latest minerals which are environmentally preserved areas by indigenous peoples. Also impossible to deny that how the mining and the CAP has been imposed on peoples surpasses even the violence of the military dictatorship, the example of the transposition of the São Francisco River and the UH Belo Monte. as well as this vote the touch of the Mining Law in TIs in parallel with the overall weakening of the laws that protect the environment and the indigenous peoples in Brazil.

We call on all peoples of the Brazilian territory to give your hands and drink from the experience of the chieftain David Kopinawa.
