About 5 thousand workers of the construction site of Pimental decided to halt work on the early afternoon of Friday, 5, reports the Union of lightweight construction of Altamira.

According to the workers, among the 21 items of the agenda are claiming the payment of additional 40% for workers housed in the building (the so-called containment, laid down additional but not effected by Consórcio Construtor Belo Monte-CCBM), wage equality in the same functions for all the plant’s construction sites, and 5 by 1 system, in which the gaps occur on random days and there is no additional overtime on weekends.
The workers also complain of unpaid additional unhealthy and hazardous working conditions, poor quality of food and the constant presence of police officers and men of the National Armed Force in construction sites. “Many men end up running out of the breakfast depending on the time of the beginning of the work, and today found living on food even insects. Already the issue of presence of repressive forces bothers a lot, workers feel in a prison. To give you an idea, in the latest resignation of 80 workers [in 2012], who brought the list of names was the National Security Force, “explains Maria Sandoval, President of the Union.
The laid-off workers 80 were denounced by spy hired by the CCBM to monitor workers and, later, the Xingu Vivo Movement forever (see confession here). After discovered in late February, the CCBM, which received R $ 5 thousand by spy services, said that the information collected by him were made available to the Brazilian Intelligence Agency (ABIN).
